Philosophy — “Pare down to the essence, but don’t remove the poetry."

This principle underpins my creative process, wherein I endeavor to embody the timeless ideals of Japanese aesthetics. These ideals manifest in my work through minimalist compositions, subtlety, natural materials, and calligraphic strokes. I aim to uncover greatness in the inconspicuous — in the overlooked details, the subtle, the tentative. Through my practice, I explore the balance between materials and structure, intentionally introducing imperfection into each creation. I work with natural elements such as handmade paper, linen, ink, earth pigments, natural dyes, and homemade glue, believing that these raw materials carry a unique energy. My artistic journey is driven by a philosophy of exploration and discovery, marked by a mindful observation of nature and a practice of being present in the moment: slowing down, noticing, reflecting, and embracing the essence of life in all its contrasts—darkness and light, shadow and illumination, emptiness and abundance.
