“Pare down to the essence, but don’t remove the poetry.”
My work is rooted in the aesthetics of East Asia—minimalist composition, subtle atmospheres, and the expressive clarity of calligraphic brushstrokes. It is a practice devoted to cultivating heart-based awareness and strengthening the connection to intuition. In the studio, I surrender to the spontaneous flow of creativity, allowing form and meaning to emerge in their raw, unfiltered state.
I am drawn to simplicity, asymmetry, and restraint—to the quiet harmony of nature and the purity of raw materials. Working with a limited palette, I shape inner landscapes using only a few natural elements. Handmade paper, natural pigments, homemade glue, and ink form the foundation of my work. I dye paper with kakishibu (a traditional dye made from fermented persimmons), as well as with earth pigments and tea. These organic substances infuse the work with a particular presence—a tactile energy that invites slower, deeper seeing. The texture of the paper and the subtle shifts of pigment and ink become part of the narrative.
Nature is both my inspiration and my teacher. I value slowness and stillness—moments where reflection deepens and life reveals its nuances: light and shadow, fullness and emptiness, beauty and impermanence. My process is intuitive and meditative, guided more by instinct than intention. The brush moves freely, the hands respond naturally. In this way, art becomes not only an act of expression but a path of self-revelation—a quiet dance of mind and body.
