“Pare down to the essence, but don’t remove the poetry.”
My work is rooted in the principles of East Asian aesthetics—minimalist composition, subtlety, and the expressive power of calligraphic brushstrokes. It is a practice centered on deepening heart-based awareness and cultivating a connection to intuition. I surrender to the spontaneous flow of creativity, allowing thought to emerge in its raw, unfiltered form.
I find beauty in simplicity, asymmetry, and restraint—in the quiet harmony of nature and in the purity of materials. I work with a limited palette, using only a few natural ingredients to give form to inner landscapes. Handmade paper, natural pigments, homemade glue, and ink are my chosen materials. I dye my paper with kakishibu (a traditional dye made from fermented persimmons), as well as with earth pigments and tea. These raw, organic substances lend a certain energy to the work—a tactile presence that invites a deeper kind of seeing. The texture of the paper and the subtleties of pigment and ink all become part of the narrative.
Nature is both my inspiration and my teacher. I value slowness and stillness—moments of presence where reflection unfolds and life reveals itself in all its nuance: light and shadow, fullness and emptiness, beauty and impermanence. My creative process is intuitive and meditative, guided less by intention than by instinct. The brush moves freely, the hands respond naturally. In this way, art becomes not only a form of expression but also a path of self-revelation—a quiet dance of mind and body.
